The Latest School News and Reminders – May, 2012
Three new members of the School Advisory Council have been elected from the Home & School Association. We welcome Shannon Dolan, Kathleen Ruggeri, and Mary Ann Sheridan to SAC. Special thanks to all of our candidates for their willingness to serve and thanks to 162 people who voted through Survey Monkey.
Family Rosary bags are circulating through the school families. Thank you for your prayers for peace in the world, our community, and in our homes & hearts.

Dear Parents,
I cannot believe that May is just a few days away. The April showers that bring May flowers are much needed this year. Blooming gardens, flowering bushes on the side of the road, and plants truly remind me of God’s presence in my life. As we move into the beautiful month of May, we are reminded of Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our Mother. She is an example of being open to God’s will and providence in our lives. She certainly didn’t expect to become the Mother of Jesus. She allowed God to work through her. All things happen in God’s good time! From our Holy Father, “May Mary’s prayers and example guide you always and renew your hearts in faith and hope. May God grant you and your families abundant blessings of peace and joy!”

We pray for the repose of the soul of Patrick & Mary Taylor’s grandfather who passed away on March 27th. We also pray for the repose of the soul of Jake Shanley’s grandfather who passed away this week.
Although Sister Nancy Bradbury is departing from Saint Agnes School, she is not retiring. Sister will be working at the new Christo Rey High School in Philadelphia. I apologize for giving the wrong impression last month.

+Dear Parents,
April 1 is Palm Sunday. On that day we hear proclaimed the Gospel of Mark (11:1-10), which tells of Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem. A beautiful tradition at Mass on Palm Sunday is the blessing of palms which we then take with us to our homes. The palms are symbols that remind us of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the sacrifice of his life, and the glory of his Resurrection.

On Wednesday, March 07, 2012, Mrs. Emily Riley of the Connelly Foundation visited Saint Agnes School to award one of the prestigious Neumann Scholarships to an Archdiocesan High School of the recipient’s choice. Mrs. Emily Riley presented this academic scholarship to eighth grader JAMES HENNESSY. James is one of the top 40 eighth graders in the Archdiocese and he won a four year scholarship valued at over $20,000 for the next four years at an Archdiocesan High School. James will attend Bishop Shanahan High School.
