+Dear Parents,
Lent began last week. What does Lent mean to you? I am always so much in awe of children who say they are “giving up” something for Lent and they stick to it. At the same time, we want to give up not just things like chocolate, ice cream or soda; we want to give up complaining, being unkind to someone, or video games. What are we doing with the time or money we “save”? Does giving up something help us to be a better, stronger person? Does it provide us with the time to spend in prayer? After a week of Lent, it’s a good time to review our strategies and see how we are doing. Make new plans or commit to the ones you made on Ash Wednesday. The bottom line is building up the relationship with the Lord and with the community. Happy Lent!

Dear Parents,
The beginning of a new year is a time for prayerful gratitude. I am grateful for many things. I am especially grateful to you and for you. You are the primary educators in the faith of your child, and you allow me to share in the challenge and privilege. As a catechist, I am committed to presenting experiences of faith to your child in the classroom and affirm the experience of faith being lived at home. Making this connection is critical to your child’s faith formation. When you share with me the prayer, conversations, and other experiences you have with your child, you give me the most basic tools I need to make that connection. In these early weeks of the New Year, let’s prayerfully renew our commitment to one another to work together in sharing our faith with your children. Under separate email is the month page from the Archdiocese called Do this in Memory of Me. I hope this page will help you to have conversations about the Gospel from the Sunday Mass.
