Dear Parents,

The beginning of a new year is a time for prayerful gratitude.  I am grateful for many things.  I am especially grateful to you and for you.  You are the primary educators in the faith of your child, and you allow me to share in the challenge and privilege.  As a catechist, I am committed to presenting experiences of faith to your child in the classroom and affirm the experience of faith being lived at home.  Making this connection is critical to your child’s faith formation.  When you share with me the prayer, conversations, and other experiences you have with your child, you give me the most basic tools I need to make that connection.  In these early weeks of the New Year, let’s prayerfully renew our commitment to one another to work together in sharing our faith with your children.  Under separate email is the month page from the Archdiocese called Do this in Memory of Me.  I hope this page will help you to have conversations about the Gospel from the Sunday Mass.

Here is what is happening around Saint Agnes School . . .

We offer our prayers to Maura Taylor and her family on the recent death of her grandfather.

On Monday, Ms. Mary Rochford, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, visited Saint Agnes School along with Mr. Joseph Konecki, head of technology for the Archdiocese.  During her visit, Ms. Rochford reviewed our strategic plan of action which we have in place and commented that we are making good progress.  Ms. Rochford and Mr. Konecki were pleased with their interactions with faculty and students and they were impressed with the current use of our available technologies, and the integration that takes place between our “specials” teachers and the classroom teachers.

Dear Parents,

All parents and teachers want to see children grow and become happy, healthy, and productive adults.  Our children come to us as infants in need of constant care.  As children grow, they become capable of and enjoy being independent in many ways.  One of the most important aspects of healthy child development is building in children a sense of personal responsibility.  Yet effectively providing both freedom and responsibility for children can be a somewhat tricky balance for parents.
